Central Park South Holistic Dentistry Alternatives

Smiling woman outdoors When people hear the word “holistic,” they might imagine incense burning or herbal remedies, but holistic dentistry is really much simpler than that. By taking a holistic approach to dental care, your dentist is simply considering the impact of your dentistry services on your whole body health. At the Central Park South NYC dentistry practice of Dr. Laura Torrado, we practice holistic dentistry every day by considering the impact of every treatment on your whole body before we recommend any of our services. We’re proud to offer a number of holistic dentistry alternatives to traditional dental care. If you want to learn more about our holistic dental treatment options, contact the NYC Central Park South dental practice of Dr. Torrado to schedule your holistic dentistry consultation today.

Dr. Torrado and her team are dedicated to creating personalized dental care plans that ensure patients receive the best treatment to achieve and maintain both optimal oral and overall health. In order to ensure patients receive the care they need, we encourage them to visit us at least two times each year for preventive dental checkups and professional teeth cleanings. During these biannual dental appointments, we’ll carefully examine the smile, discuss any concerns we see, and partner with our patients to maintain their healthiest smiles. We can also provide guidance on how whole body health concerns and medications can impact your oral health, so you can maintain healthy smiles with proper at-home care. Additionally, we’ll review how any oral health concerns like gum disease and TMJ dysfunction can impact the health of your whole body. The goal is to create a seamless treatment plan to address any oral and overall health concerns as a whole.

One of the biggest changes we’ve made to ensure the optimal oral and overall health of our patients is removing mercury from the practice. While researchers still claim there is little fact-based evidence to support claims of patients with amalgam fillings suffering from mercury toxicity poisoning, we believe it’s always better to avoid exposing our patients to hazardous materials, whenever possible. All of our fillings and other restorations are complete mercury free.

Biocompatible Restorations

As part of our dedication to holistic dentistry, we encourage patients to consider the biocompatibility of restoration materials before beginning any treatment plans. We can discuss the advantages of each restoration material with you as part of the treatment planning process to ensure you make the right choice for your unique oral health needs. Some of the most biocompatible restoration materials we offer include:

  • Composite resin fillings
  • Glass ionomer cements
  • Gold crowns, fillings, bridges, and other restorations
  • Ceramic restorations of all kinds
  • Zirconia typically used for dental crowns and dental implants
